PRIDE Lunch - July 2009

Calling all Pridesters! Preston Thorne is in town and would like to hook up with friends from PRIDE - so we are setting up a PRIDE Lunch while he is here!

On Monday, July 20th, we will be gathering at the Goodwood Barbecue restaurant in Draper. We will meet at 11:45, and hope to get a good-sized crowd.

Reservations have been set for 11:30am tomorrow (Thu, Feb 19th), at Ruby Tuesday, in Draper.  I have reserved a few extra seats for people who may be able to come at the last minute.  Hope to see you there!

First PRIDE Lunch of 2009

It's time again for a PRIDE lunch! The more pridesters we get there, the better it is!

On Thursday, February 19th @ 11:30am, we will meet at Ruby Tuesday, in Draper (Just off the 123oo So. exit). We would like to get an idea of how many people will be attending, to make sure we get a big enough table. Please either leave a comment on this post (coming or not coming) or join/respond the event created in the "Utah's PRIDE 1986-1996" group on facebook.

Post-Christmas PRIDE Lunch Aftermath

Despite the entire Great Salt Lake being blanketed over Utah in the form of snow during Christmas day and the day after, we had a great turnout at the Golden Corral.


Attendees included PRIDEsters from 1989 to 1995: Jarin Blackham and family, Jim Remley and family (whose blog we just added to the site), Preston Thorne, Spencer and DeAnn Hale, Mary P. and Jeff Litster.

We had some fun conversations about old times, video games, facebook, blogs, video games, reunions (past and future) and... oh yeah, video games (Sorry ladies! heh.)

Thanks all for coming. It was a great time. We hope that any of you that live out-of-state will let us know when you come to Utah so we can get together with you during a free moment; and that more of the PRIDEsters that do live here will be able to join us on future get-togethers.

Post Christmas PRIDE Lunch Correction

Jarin reminded me that it's actually a Golden Corral at about 700 east and 7200 South. I've been away from UT for so long, I don't remember where everything is anymore! So--plan on Golden Corral--not Hometown Buffet!

Post-Christmas PRIDE Lunch

Okay--so the plan currently stands that we'll have a post-Christmas PRIDE Lunch on Friday, Dec. 26th. Meet at 11:30 at the Hometown Buffet in Fort Union (I believe it's off of 7200 South in Murray. I (Mary P.) will be in town--so anyone else who is in town, feel free to drop by! (Oh, and hopefully buffet style will be good for the kids).

December PRIDE Lunch (Before Christmas)

Wendy Johnson (Rickertsen) [1991-1993] will be in town from 12 December through 18th December.

We would like to set up a lunch with her during that week. Stay tuned for details. I'm in the process of finding out where and when will be convenient for her.

We're excited to be having out-of-town PRIDEsters come to visit. Please make sure to contact me if you're coming into town from out-of-town so we can set up lunch/dinner with you!

(I'm still working on details for the Mary Pearson (post-Christmas) lunch too.)

December PRIDE Lunch (After Christmas)

Hey all! I know we're not even done with Thanksgiving yet, but trying to plan ahead. Are there any plans in the work for a December PRIDE Lunch? I know last year we met in Utah County. I'll be there around Christmas--so I could be to a lunch the Friday or Saturday after Christmas (although please don't plan around my busy schedule!) Anyway...I know this time of year is always tight for everyone....so wanted to put the word out early :)

December PRIDE Lunches 2007

Hey gang... Like last year, we'd like to try to do the December Lunch around the Christmas holiday in case any PRIDEsters are in town and would like to join.

I'm thinking sometime between 26 December and 28 December... What do you think? Please comment and let us know; we'll plan accordingly during the business week of 17 December - 21 December. (EDIT: I re-read that and realized it sounded like we were going to plan a lunch for sometime during the week of 17 December - 21 December. Forgive me, I originally meant that we would post the details for the December lunch DURING the week of 17 Dec - 21 Dec. However, we've had a lot of discussion already amongst some of us and we'll be posting the Utah County lunch today and revamping if needed as it gets closer.)

We're looking forward to seeing y'all and extend the warmest holiday wishes to all of you.

How to Subscribe to Lunch Alerts

For those of you interested in hooking up with the PRIDE lunches, we've made a way for you to subscribe to Lunch Alerts so you can be notified when they happen.

There are numerous ways/readers you can use to subscribe to these "feeds", but for those that are new to RSS feeds/subscriptions, I'll offer the 3 I find are the easiest and most readily available.

1. Google Reader - I recommend this one first, because you can set it up wherever, and access it from anywhere that has internet access. This allows you to take it with you, rather than having to set it up on a bunch of individual computers.

To add an alert to Google Reader:
Right-click the appropriate link in the left sidebar and select "Copy Shortcut" (Internet Explorer) or "Copy Link Location" (Firefox)... then open the Google Reader and log in.
Click the "Add Subscription" link in Google Reader and paste the link you copied from this site.

2 & 3. Internet Explorer 7+ and Mozilla Firefox 2+ - This option is probably easiest to implement, since you only have to click on the appropriate Lunch Alerts link on the left to bring up the feed results. If you're using IE 7.0 or above, or Firefox 2.0 or above, the page will offer you a panel at the top of the page that allows you to add a bookmark/subscribe to the feed so that you can receive these updates through your browser.

Firefox will actually help you subscribe using Google Reader too, which is EXTRA cool.

I know this is a very brief description of how to get your alerts going, but I'm short on time... so try with what I have now, and if it's not enough... leave comments and I'll edit it later...

The Fate of PRIDE Lunches is Changing...

We're excited to announce that Sean Grubb came through town, and we're sorry we weren't able to get more advanced notice out for a meal meeting in his honor.

Sean Grubb, Jarin Blackham and Matt Moon (and their families) gathered tonight at the Golden Corral in West Jordan for a PRIDE dinner to celebrate Sean's arrival in the Beehive State.

Due to the fact that some of us have now changed employment and are working in Utah County... we're proposing that we start having Utah County lunches and Salt Lake County lunches. If you're interested, please let us know.

If you are interested, we'll be providing links soon to enable you to set up your favorite RSS Reader program (Internet Explorer, Firefox, Thunderbird, Google Reader, etc.) to alert you when new lunches are planned. Of course, you'll always be able to check here for details.

We're doing this in an effort to not have people feel like they're being "spammed" when we invite them to lunch via email. This way, those that are interested can subscribe to be notified and others that aren't so concerned with it don't need to be bothered. You manage your own subscriptions, which saves us a lot of time and energy too.
