Post-Christmas PRIDE Lunch Aftermath

Despite the entire Great Salt Lake being blanketed over Utah in the form of snow during Christmas day and the day after, we had a great turnout at the Golden Corral.

Attendees included PRIDEsters from 1989 to 1995: Jarin Blackham and family, Jim Remley and family (whose blog we just added to the site), Preston Thorne, Spencer and DeAnn Hale, Mary P. and Jeff Litster.

We had some fun conversations about old times, video games, facebook, blogs, video games, reunions (past and future) and... oh yeah, video games (Sorry ladies! heh.)

Thanks all for coming. It was a great time. We hope that any of you that live out-of-state will let us know when you come to Utah so we can get together with you during a free moment; and that more of the PRIDEsters that do live here will be able to join us on future get-togethers.

Happy New Year, everyone!

Post Christmas PRIDE Lunch Correction

Jarin reminded me that it's actually a Golden Corral at about 700 east and 7200 South. I've been away from UT for so long, I don't remember where everything is anymore! So--plan on Golden Corral--not Hometown Buffet!

*EDIT by Jeff:
Jarin reserved a room for us there; under the name "Mary"

*EDIT by Jarin:
We have the room from 11:30a - 1:45pm. It is pretty big, so bring your family if you can/want!

Friday 26 December 2008
Golden Corral
665 East 7200 South

Please come if you can! Especially PRIDEsters from out-0f-town... We love to see you! Pass the word along!

Post-Christmas PRIDE Lunch

Okay--so the plan currently stands that we'll have a post-Christmas PRIDE Lunch on Friday, Dec. 26th. Meet at 11:30 at the Hometown Buffet in Fort Union (I believe it's off of 7200 South in Murray. I (Mary P.) will be in town--so anyone else who is in town, feel free to drop by! (Oh, and hopefully buffet style will be good for the kids).

Merry Christmas and hope to see you then!

December PRIDE Lunch (Before Christmas)

Wendy Johnson (Rickertsen) [1991-1993] will be in town from 12 December through 18th December.

We would like to set up a lunch with her during that week. Stay tuned for details. I'm in the process of finding out where and when will be convenient for her.

We're excited to be having out-of-town PRIDEsters come to visit. Please make sure to contact me if you're coming into town from out-of-town so we can set up lunch/dinner with you!

(I'm still working on details for the Mary Pearson (post-Christmas) lunch too.)

Stay tuned...

December PRIDE Lunch (After Christmas)

Hey all! I know we're not even done with Thanksgiving yet, but trying to plan ahead. Are there any plans in the work for a December PRIDE Lunch? I know last year we met in Utah County. I'll be there around Christmas--so I could be to a lunch the Friday or Saturday after Christmas (although please don't plan around my busy schedule!) Anyway...I know this time of year is always tight for wanted to put the word out early :)

Kim Burton (Garner) Blog Added

I so regret being hesitant to get on FaceBook. Thanks, again, to Mary Pearson for setting up a PRIDE group there!

I found Kim Burton (Garner) [1990-1992] there; interestingly not through the PRIDE group. She went to high school with Emilie Nunes (Copier) who ended up later being roommates with my wife, Gwen. What a small world we live in.

Anyway, Emilie found me and added me as a friend, then I went trolling through her friend list and found Kim. :)

Needless to say, I'm more than stoked to be back in touch with Kim. And you can be too... check out her blog right now!

Welcome back, Kim! You're as beautiful as ever and we're happy to be reunited with you.

Dave Ennenga's Blog Added

I got in touch with Dave Ennenga on Facebook and he shared his blog with me. I now share it with all of you that would like to see what he's been up and perhaps get in touch with him.

If you haven't already, make sure to go join our Utah's PRIDE group on Facebook!

Mindi Larson (Barker) Blog and IMDB List Added

I added Mindi Larson (Barker's) blog to the blog list and added years to the names (please correct me if I've made mistakes...)

I also added a list of IMDB pages for PRIDEsters that have continued to perform and have a page there.

If you have a blog or IMDB page... let us know so we can get it up there.

Latest Blog Entries Added to Sidebar

I've added a section for PRIDEster blogs on the left sidebar above the list of PRIDEster sites. Each listing will show the latest entry title for that blog and they'll be listed in the order of newest to oldest.

If you're a PRIDEster and would like your blog listed... comment here and/or email me and we'll get it listed.

PS: Jarin, Jered and I had a great time at JCW's ... Sorry we missed everyone else. We'll have to see about doing a dinner again in the near future.

There's Just Something Wonderful About Hanging Out With Good Friends

Back Row: Jarin Blackham, Melissa Pond
Front Row: Viet Le, Jeff Litster, Jered Plouzek

You decide what happened in this picture.
Leave a comment and tell the story you think this picture tells. :)

Tonight we had our rescheduled dinner with Melissa Pond as the Guest-of-Honor. There's something special about reuniting with old friends; and it's amazing to see how, even though you haven't seen the friend in over ten years, it's as if you had spent time together last week... and picking up where you left off is effortless and wonderful.

We felt that tonight as the five of us got together with our families and enjoyed excellent food and great company. There was much chatting, Wii bowling, and attempts at getting some pictures (if you wonder why the smiles are so cheesey up there; it's because that was our third attempt and we were all laughing pretty hard.)

We really enjoyed catching up with Melissa and are sorry for those that weren't able to make it.

We wish Melissa, Alex and Roxey the best of success in Los Angeles. Melissa and Alex will be continuing their pursuits in their acting careers. I made her promise she'd let us know when she lands roles so we can all check her movies out. :)

I look forward to more of these in the future. It really does rock getting together with old friends! Thanks all for coming tonight; it was awesome.

Come join us for a night of fun and reuniting before she heads to California!

We're all getting back on the health bandwagon, so we're giving it another go... this time it will be:

(Taco Soup and potluck sides/desserts/drinks)

(Contact Jeff to get directions; please be sure to RSVP by leaving a comment on this post so we can know how many are coming and can make enough Taco Soup.)

When you leave your comment, tell us how many people you're bringing and what side-dish, dessert or drinks you're bringing (no alcohol please; we're PRIDE after all!) ;)

We'll see you there...

Melissa's farewell dinner will be rescheduled

It is with great remorse that we have to cancel the dinner tonight. With so many of us sick with various colds, coughs, sinus stuff, etc. it will be better for everyone if we stall for a bit. Jeff and Melissa will work on scheduling another evening, before she makes her way to LA. Once a new date is chosen, we'll post it to this site, and contact those who have left comments on the other post. Hopefully those who weren't able to come tonight will be able to join us for the rescheduled dinner!

Thanks for understanding. We hope everyone gets well soon!!

Friday, March 7, 2008

Melissa Pond is moving away.

It was a good reason to have a pot-luck dinner at Jeff Litster's House (Gwen is making Taco soup). Come and enjoy some time with Melissa before her exodus to Los Angeles!

Please leave a comment if you are planning on coming and let everyone know what you are bringing (side, drink, dessert) and how many people are coming (adults, children). We can't wait to see all of you.

Date: Friday March 14, 2008
Time: 6:30pm
Where: Jeff Litster home (Riverton)

(For directions please email Jeff)

PS: Melissa's baby daughter is finishing recovery from RSV; Jeff has twin infants and Jered has a baby daughter as well. If you have sick ones, please arrange to leave them home with a sitter so we avoid getting the wee ones sick!

13 March 2008 Update: Jeff's kids woke up with coughs yesterday morning... they seem to be the morning/evening-only coughs and we're not sure if they're colds or allergies or what... they don't seem serious yet but 3 of my 5 have them. If everyone's still comfortable coming, I'm still willing to host Friday and we'll keep the kids at bay as much as possible (they're pretty good about covering their coughs with their arms (instead of their hands) to help prevent spreading. Please comment and let me know who has concerns...

Jered also mentioned his baby daughter has a cough too... I don't know the status of Melissa's daughter's RSV recovery...

If need be, we can reschedule, or go somewhere else. Sorry for the late notice, but it came on sudden for all of us. Please let us know by leaving comments here whether or not you'd still like to go for Friday night. I'd like to make it work if we can.

14 March 2008 Update: Unfortunately, we have had to cancel the dinner for tonight. With illnesses affecting so many of us, we will enter a holding pattern to let everyone get better. Jeff will talk with Melissa about alternate dates, and we'll let everyone know as soon as one is chosen. Thanks for understanding, and everyone: get well soon!!

Jon Best - Young Film Star

Utah's PRIDE's own Jon Best (1994-1995 White Team) had a role in a film called "Silent Night, Deadly Night" (as well as a few others)

Here is a scene someone posted on YouTube that is hilarious!!!

Jon did a great job in this scene... he looks petrified as the psycho old man goes off on what I call his "Santa Rant-a"

Enjoy! "You better run.... RUN FOR YOUR LIFE!!!" :) is not responsible for any content that may arise in subsequent YouTube videos after the clip.
